Rushed for 2,107 yards and 35 touchdowns in addition to participating in track as an Oklahoma prep. Signed with Arkansas but didn’t qualify academically. In 2007, he attended Arkansas Baptist College and played in nine games. Did not attend school in ’08. Played the 2009 season for Independence (Kan.) Community College and rushed 195 times for 859 yards (4.4-yard average) and five touchdowns with 16 grabs for 135 yards (8.4) and zero TDs in nine games. Appeared in nine games (seven starts) during his first season at Murray State in ’10, rushing 139-904-10 (6.5) and grabbing 28-166-1 (5.9). Missed the first two games of the season with eligibility issues and most of the final two contests with a high right ankle sprain. In ’11, started 8-of-10 games played and carried 189-1,018-13 (5.4) with 30-234-1 (7.8) receiving. Added two kickoff returns for 33 yards (16.5) and a 31-yard completion. Was benched against Georgia State, reportedly for poor practice habits. Has two fumbles in 386 touches the past two seasons and a 5.9-yard rushing average. Team captain.Positives:
Good vision and lateral agility. Nice foot quickness and cutback ability. Smooth acceleration and change of direction. Makes instinctive cuts and runs to daylight. Reliable receiver — adjusts to throws and has soft hands. Protects the football. Tough and durable.Negatives:
Lacks ideal height and bulk (average run strength). Has below-average timed speed and gets tracked down outside. Shows some tightness in his hips. Needs work in pass protection. Could be challenged to absorb a complex playbook. Still learning what it means to be a pro.Summary:
Competitive, productive former junior-college product and walk-on who plays faster than he times, though he lacks exceptional traits and will have to compete for a No. 3 job.
