Notes:

Helped lead the football and basketball teams to the state championships his senior season as a North Carolina prep. Spent the 2007 campaign at West Hills (Calif.) College and hauled in 34 passes for 546 yards (16.1-yard average) and three touchdowns in eight games. Led East Mississippi Community College in receiving in ’08 with 52-897-16 (17.3) in 12 games. Started all 13 games at the “X” receiver for East Carolina in ’10 and set the school’s touchdown record, posting 89-1,116-14 (12.5). Started 8-of-9 games at the “X” receiver in ’11 and hauled in 60-600-8 (10.0) to set the school TD receptions record with 22. Did not play against Southern Miss and UTEP because of a stress fracture in his right foot. Injured his left knee one play into the UCF game and missed the season finale at Marshall. Has two career fumbles.

Positives:

Has good size with long arms and big hands and room for increased bulk. Athletic movement skills. Good balance and body control. Can sink his weight and get in and out of cuts cleanly. Has springs to elevate. Can sidestep a tackler and pick up extra yards after the catch. Gives effort as a blocker.

Negatives:

Inconsistent. Average playmaking ability. Route running needs work — does not sell patterns. Gets widened and outleveraged. Lets throws into his body. Has concentration drops and is too easily separated from the ball (shrinks in a crowd). Average competitiveness. Does not understand what it means to be a pro. Could struggle with mental aspects of pro game.

Summary:

Lean, long-limbed, long-striding, junior-college product and “X” receiver with smooth athletic ability. However, he did not elevate his game as a senior and finished the season on the injured list, failing to provide reason to overlook inconsistent hands, finesse mentality and questionable intangibles.
