The Boise-area prep also participated in baseball and basketball while earning all-conference honors at tight end, defensive back and punter. Grayshirted in 2006 before redshirting in ’07. Played in all 13 games as a backup tight end in ’08, grabbing 17 passes for 262 yards (15.4-yard average) and zero touchdowns. Hauled in 31-444-1 (14.3) in 14 games as a reserve in ’09. Appeared in all 13 games, making his first seven starts, in ’10 and recorded 24-299-5 (12.5). In ’11, posted 31-264-7 (8.5) in 13 games (eight starts). Graduated in May.Positives:
Big frame with growth potential. Covers ground with long strides. Good hands to extend and catch outside his frame. Good body control to adjust to throws. Athletic and smart. Has special-teams experience.Negatives:
Is underdeveloped and needs to improve functional strength. Narrow-framed, underpowered as a blocker. Does not jolt with his hands (catches contact). Shows some stiffness in his legs — shows in route running and ability to adjust in space. Is not sudden or explosive to separate vs. man coverage. Gets jammed up off the line. Average run strength.Summary:
Underpowered, straight-linish, finesse H-back with receiving skills. Practice squad candidate who has to get stronger.
