Played defensive back, returned kickoffs and was the team’s kicker as an Oklahoma prep, who also played soccer and basketball. Redshirted in 2007. Saw action in 12 games in ’08 as a backup and on special teams, catching two passes for 10 yards (5.0-yard average). Recorded 20-234-1 (11.7) receiving and returned four punts for 38 yards (9.5-yard average) in nine games (four starts) in ’09. Missed four midseason games with a sprained ankle. In ’10, he posted 68-736-5 (10.8) as a receiver and 15-144-1 (9.6) as the main punt returner in 13 games (four starts). Set a career-high in catches in ’11 after hauling in 71-715-3 (10.1) in 12 games (five starts). Returned punts 19-74-0 (3.9) and missed the Kansas State game with a hamstring injury. Has three career fumbles.Positives:
Quick off the line. Good ball reactions to track and adjust. Catches confidently. Can sink his hips and get into breaks cleanly — shows potential as a route runner. Finds soft spots in zone. Unafraid to dirty his nose as a blocker or lower his shoulder on DBs. Has slot experience. Fields punts cleanly. Solid personal and football character. Durable and competitive.Negatives:
Size is just adequate and has short arms. Not an explosive athlete. Needs to improve functional strength — susceptible to the jam. More quick-handed than strong-handed — inconsistent in traffic. Ran a limited route tree and faced a lot of single coverage and soft zone. Average run strength and creativity after the catch.Summary:
Productive, competitive, sure-handed, college slot player who benefitted playing in a prolific spread system featuring Justin Blackmon. Has make-it qualities and punt-return ability helps his chances to stick as a No. 4 or No. 5.
