Notes: Also lettered in basketball as a prep. Saw action in all 13 games in 2008 and 11 games in ’09, primarily on special teams, without recording a catch. Started 8-of-13 games in which he played in ’10, primarily as a blocker, catching five passes for 43 yards and a TD. Started 2-of-12 games in ’11, recording 1-14-0.
Positives:Very good size. Works to position, seal and lean on defenders. Lines up in line and was used as a motion player. Has special-teams experience. Solid personal and football character. Works hard in the weight room.
Negatives:Lacks bulk strength to drive defenders off the line. Does not play with pop or power in his hands. Inconsistent sustain. Bends at the waist and gets beat outside. Average initial quickness and athletic ability. Tight hips. Is not nasty. Non-factor as a receiver.
Summary:Big, smart, dependable, blocking tight end who is at his best when he goes unnoticed. However, he lacks exceptional traits and is the type you look to replace.
