Also played wide receiver as a Dallas-area prep. Redshirted in 2007. Saw action in 12-of-13 contests in ’08 as a reserve cornerback and special teams player with eight tackles, zero pass breakups and zero interceptions. Registered 22-4-2 with one blocked kick in 13 games (two starts at cornerback) in ’09, while also seeing action as a kickoff returner with 10 returns for 359 yards (35.9-yard average) and an 81-yard return for a touchdown against Wyoming. Started all 13 games in ’10 and contributed on special teams after posting 30-6-2 and returning kickoffs 5-167-0 (33.4). In ’11, he was named a first-team All-America kickoff returner and the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Year after scampering 32-979-2 (30.6) with 99 and 94-yard returns for touchdowns (against Louisiana-Monroe and UNLV). Set the school’s single game record with 229 kickoff return yards against Baylor. Tallied 32-7-2 in 13 starts at cornerback. Graduated in May and spent the ’11 season working on his master’s degree.

Undersized cornerback whose biggest impact will be on special teams — gained 30.6 yards per return on kickoffs as a senior and had three career touchdowns, including two in 2011. Has good top-end speed, as well as a 38-inch vertical leap, and clocked a 3-cone drill time of 6.62 seconds. Overcame stacked odds to have success in college.
