The Georgia prep saw action in 10 games as a true freshman in 2008, making 26 tackles, half a tackle for loss and half a sack with one pass batted down. Named the team’s Outstanding Defensive Lineman in ’09 after recording 47-9 1/2-4 with one pass batted down and three forced fumbles in 12 games (nine starts). Made all 12 starts at defensive tackle and posted 55-15 1/2-2 1/2 with five batted passes, one interception and one blocked kick. Underwent surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder after the season and did not participate in spring practice. Had shoulder surgery after the season and missed ’11 spring practice. In the fall, appeared in 11 games and started the final 10 at DT with 37-3-0. Missed the season opener at Florida and most of fall camp after having surgery for a sports hernia in early August.
