Intercepted 10 passes in his final season as an Ohio prep while also participating in basketball and track. Saw action in nine games as a true freshman in 2006, making a start at cornerback against Bowling Green, and recorded 19 tackles, two pass breakups and zero interceptions. Missed the ’07 campaign with a right hamstring injury. Registered 30-3-0 with one forced fumble in seven starts in ’08 before tearing the ACL and meniscus in his left knee against Northern Illinois. Sat out the ’09 season while rehabbing the knee injury. Returned to the field in ’10 and logged 72-6-3 with three tackles for loss and one sack in 12 starts at CB. Did not play against Purdue (illness) and graduated in December. Was granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA and started all 13 games (11 at CB and two at free safety) in ’11, leading the team in tackles and pass breakups with 83-15-3 with 1 1/2 tackles for loss and one forced fumble.Summary:
Tall college corner who looks the part — big, long and muscular — but missed a lot of games at Toledo because of head, knee (ACL, meniscus), hamstring and shoulder injuries. Healthy as a sixth-year senior, recorded 83 tackles and 18 passes defended. Can’t survive at corner, but has intriguing size and speed to consider as a safety if he tackles well enough and proves valuable on special teams. Turns 25 in December.
