Also lettered in basketball as an Indiana prep. Appeared in all 12 games with two starts as a true freshman in 2008, grabbing 25 passes for 337 yards (13.5-yard average) and two touchdowns. Hauled in 61-770-5 (12.6) in 12 games (five starts) in ’09. Led the team in catches in ’10 with 78-832-4 (10.7) in 12 starts. In ’11, grabbed 25-286-1 (11.4) in six starts before being dismissed from the team for violating tean rules in late October. Also missed games against North Texas (knee bruise), Wisconsin (2nd half) and Iowa (knee injury) and then was suspended for Northwestern.Positives:
Long body — boxes out smaller defensive backs. Covers ground with long strides. Good balance and body control. Willing to work the middle of the field and make catches in traffic. Adjusts to throws and has a wide catching radius. Durable.Negatives:
Lean and lanky — has to add bulk to his frame and get stronger. Susceptible to the jam and is too easily rerouted. Average initial quickness. Pedestrian deep speed. Lets throws into his body. Poor blocker. Does not factor on special teams. Has underachiever traits — immature and lazy. Character needs to be investigated.Summary:
Long, high-cut, straight-linish, possession receiver who was a productive player in a poor offense before being dismissed from the team. Big target with ball skills who will get a look but has yet to show requisite determination or maturity.
