Played defensive back, receiver, running back and kick returner as an Ohio prep. As a true freshman in 2007 (wore jersey No. 42), started 9-of-12 games — five at nickel, four at right cornerback — and collected 59 tackles, four pass breakups and two interceptions (92-yard TD against North Carolina State) with five tackles for loss and one sack. Took a backseat to Jordan Hemby in ’08, when he managed 26-2-1 in 10 games. Sprained his ankle against Maryland and missed two games. In ’09, started all 13 games at right cornerback and logged 66-9-3 with three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Also returned three kickoffs for 55 yards (18.3-yard average). Redshirted in 2010 — did not play because of an NCAA investigation involving improper agent benefits. Started 12 contests in ’11 — 11 at RCB and one at LCB — and recorded 53-7-2 with six tackles for loss. Also logged time as a returner with 12-30-0 (2.5) on punt returns and 9-179-0 (19.9) on kickoffs. Suspended for the season opener against James Madison for accepting impermissible benefits in 2010.
