Was a two-time all-state selection as a running back after rushing for more than 3,700 yards and scoring 55 total touchdowns in his Pennsylvania prep career. Also lettered in track and wrestling. Appeared in nine contests as a true freshman in 2008, making seven tackles, zero pass breakups and zero interceptions. Played in all 13 games as a reserve cornerback in ’09 and tallied 13-1-1. Moved into the starting lineup at the field corner in ’10 and produced 40-6-1 with one forced fumble and a blocked punt against Utah. Missed the BBVA Compass Bowl against Kentucky with a concussion and was still limited during ’11 spring practice. In the fall, logged 30-7-0 with two tackles for loss in 13 starts. Team captain.Positives:
Good short-area quickness. Supports the run aggressively. Posted a 361⁄2-inch vertical leap and broad jump of 10 feet 4 inches at the Combine. Does not get beat often. Has special-teams experience. Competitive and hardworking.Negatives:
Lacks ideal height and has short arms. Pedestrian speed. Pedals choppily on his heels. Struggles matching up with big receivers. Limited downfield ball reactions. Does not play with awareness. Needs to improve functional strength — does not generate pop on contact (low tackler). Needs extra reps before he gets it.Summary:
Undersized, quick, aggressive, short-area corner who supports the run, but limited ball skills and awareness limit his ceiling.
