Gatorade Player of the Year in Washington, D.C. As a true freshman in 2008, appeared in the final eight games and carried 33 times for 227 yards (6.9-yard average) and two touchdowns with seven kickoff returns for 145 yards (20.7). Played 11 games in ’09, starting two, and rushed 67-312-1 (4.7) with 27 receptions for 200 yards (7.4) and zero touchdowns. Was suspended against Pitt for a violation of team rules. Backed up Colts 2011 fourth-rounder Delone Carter in ’10 and totaled 114-554-2 (4.9) rushing with 35-306-3 (8.7) receiving in 13 games (one start). Carried the load in ’11, when he started all 12 games, toting 240-1,051-6 (4.4) and catching 29-200-1 (6.9). Also tossed a 20-yard completion. Team captain. Fumbled eight times in 546 touches and has a 4.7-yard career average.Positives:
Has lateral agility to sidestep the first tackler. Shows one-cut ability to plant his foot, square his shoulders and get upfield. Reads blocks and sees the cutback. Lowers his shoulders and burrows for yards. Reliable hands. Dependable blocker — swivels his head, faces up, cuts down blitzers and is willing to take on all comers. Has a high football IQ and handled a variety of roles. Has a professional approach — coachable, hardworking, vocal leader.Negatives:
Does not look the part — is short with an average physique (could stand to get stronger and better define his musculature). Thuds tacklers more than he creates pop on contact. Tight hips. Struggles to cut sharply. Cannot create for himself. Tracked down on the perimeter. Fumbles (five) were an issue as a senior and one ended an overtime loss vs. Rutgers.Summary:
awed-off, smooth-muscled, well-balanced back with good play speed who carries a chip on his shoulder and finishes runs. Maintained a team-first attitude waiting his turn and has intangibles to stick as a backup if he can correct a fumbling issue that arose as a senior.
