The Alabama prep chose Clemson over Alabama and Auburn. Appeared in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2008, playing 149 snaps, and recording 13 knockdown blocks. Was the starter at right guard for all 14 games in ’09 with 66 knockdown blocks and an average grade of 73 percent. Led the team with 69 knockdowns and had an average grade of 76 percent in ’10 after starting all 13 games at right guard. Missed the ’11 spring game with a sprained knee but made all 14 starts at right guard in the fall.

Looks the part with outstanding size — thick and big-boned. Has long arms and big, heavy hands to deliver a jolt. Good strength with a stout base to thwart a charge. Engages quickly. Physical run blocker. Covers up defenders and opens lanes — solid finisher. Experienced, three-year starter. Good character. Works hard and leads by example.

Tight-hipped with rigid movement skills. Limited foot athlete. Is top-heavy and bends at the waist. Average balance — spends too much time on the ground. Has difficulty controlling his body and falls off blocks. Negates his power when he rises off the snap. Labors to shift his weight and handle quick counters. Lacks confidence and will need to be handled delicately. Bench-pressed 225 pounds only 19 times at the Combine.

Big, tough, physical short-area mauler who wins with size and upper-body strength. Will appeal to power-running teams such as the Steelers, Cardinals and Jets.
