Was a two-time team MVP in soccer as a California prep. Attended Southwestern College (Calif.) for three years, playing in 2007 and ’09. Saw action in seven games in ’07, booting 29 kickoffs for a 54.9-yard average and six touchbacks, seven punts for an average of 39 yards and a long of 43 and zero punts inside the 20-yard line and missing his only field-goal attempt. Did not play football in ’08 but returned in ’09 to lead all California community colleges in average kickoff yards with 49-65.4-21. Also earned all-conference honors after connecting on 7-of-11 FG attempts with a long of 53 and making all 27 point-after tries. In ’10, connected on 17-of-22 FG attempts, with a long of 53, and led the league in touchbacks after booting 86-67.4-28 on kickoffs.
