Last name is pronounced “FLU-grad.” His father, Robin, is the head football coach at Montana and was the wide receivers coach at Oregon while Aaron was playing there. Was one of the top wide receivers in Oregon as a prep, and he also lettered in track and basketball. Began his collegiate career at Oregon in 2007, playing in nine games as a true freshman and grabbing 17 passes for 168 yards (9.9-yard average) and one touchdown. Also saw action as a returner with eight punt returns for 29 yards (3.6-yard average) and one kickoff return for 22 yards. In ’08, he only caught 6-79-0 (13.2) and returned punts 3-43-0 (14.3) in 12 games (four starts). Decided to transfer after his father’s contract was not renewed at Oregon and ended up at Arizona State, sitting out the ’09 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Played in 11 games (three starts at WR) in ’10, hauling in 29-329-2 (11.3). Graduated in the spring of ’11 then started all 13 games in the fall at the “X” receiver position, catching 44-665-5 (15.1).Summary:
Small-framed with marginal length, Pflugrad does not have draftable measurables or workout numbers (despite being strong for his size). However, he is a motivated, competitive, tough coach’s son whose sure hands and intangibles will earn him a chance to carve a niche as a slot receiver. Nifty route runner — expresses patterns and executes crisply.
