Cornerback-receiver who also returned kicks, played basketball and was a state qualifier (triple jump, long jump and 4x100 relay) in track as a Florida prep. Played 12 games as a true freshman in 2007, starting the final two, and tallied 38 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception with 3 1⁄2 sacks and a forced fumble. Tore his right ACL prior to the bowl game — required a second surgery in August and redshirted in ’08. Returned to play all 13 games in ’09, drawing three starts as an injury replacement, and recorded 18-4-0. Started all 13 games in ’10 and logged 58-9-2 with half a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. Tallied 67-4-4 with three tackles for loss and one sack in 14 starts at free safety in ’11. Team captain.Positives:
Has very good size and is well-built. Athletic movement skills. Has traits to function in man coverage. Patient pedal. Good balance, hip flex and agility. Reliable in deep zone. Nice ball reactions and has soft hands to intercept. Good pursuit range. Terrific character. Smart, coachable and hardworking.Negatives:
Average instincts and play speed. Game lacks urgency, explosion and violence. Looks tentative/cautious in center field and arrives a step late. Inconsistent tackler (technique and results) — does not come to balance, goes low and leaks yardage. Needs to get stronger. Has a history of knee problems and durability needs to be checked out.Summary:
A converted cornerback with a finesse temperament, Henry was deployed in deep zone at UW and did not leave his stamp on enough plays. Has appealing cover skills, but could leave a team wanting more.
