A pass-catching tight end with a history of injuries, Miller will revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers. Miller sustained a calf injury late in the preseason and has been sidelined since.
The Jaguars placed Miller on injured reserve Tuesday because of a nagging shoulder injury. They replaced him by signing Martin Rucker off Dallas' practice squad. Rucker was a fourth-round draft pick by Cleveland in 2008.|||||||
Miller, a third-year player from Nebraska-Omaha and a sixth-round draft pick in 2009, has missed several games in his short career because of knee and foot injuries. He also missed a game because of a concussion. Miller has 45 receptions for 470 yards and four touchdowns, but injuries have prevented him from taking the next step in his development and have his future with the franchise in question.

The team activated Miller from the physically unable to perform list Sunday. Miller ran routes in the morning session, but wasn't sure he would be available for the team's first full-pads practice Sunday night. A former college quarterback at Nebraska-Omaha and a sixth-round pick in 2009, Miller caught 21 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie. He's expected to have a bigger role this fall, especially if he stays healthy.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Miller played quarterback at Nebraska-Omaha, where he threw for 4,096 yards and 26 touchdowns while rushing for 3,122 yards and a school-record 50 touchdowns in four seasons.
