A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the New York Jets have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Willie Colon. The deal is for one year, $1.2 million, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the signing.||||||| Colon, a fourth-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2006, will add depth to the Jets' offensive line and could potentially fill one of the guard spots with Brandon Moore and Matt Slauson free agents. Colon, a Bronx native who played at Hofstra, was an offensive tackle from 2006-11 but moved to guard last season.
Posted March 13, 2013
Pittsburgh released the oft-injured Colon.||||||| The 29-year-old played in just 13 of a possible 48 games the last three years due to a variety of injuries.
Posted Dec. 07, 2012
Colon practiced for the second consecutive day Friday and is listed as probable, as Pittsburgh prepares to play San Diego on Sunday.||||||| Colon has missed two games due to a left knee bruise. On Thursday, he said he would be a game-time decision. Last week, in a 23-20 win over Baltimore, All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey moved over to take his place, while Doug Legursky started at center.

Rookie Marcus Gilbert is expected to start in Colon's place Sunday when the Steelers host Seattle.

The Steelers haven't officially ruled Colon out for the season, but such an injury typically sidelines a player for at least nine months.
