The 6-foot-6-inch, 275-pound Heller joined the Lions before last season as an unrestricted free agent. He had 29 receptions, 296 yards and three touchdowns for Detroit.

The 6-foot-6, 270-pound Heller played the previous three seasons in Seattle. His best season came in 2007, when he played in all 16 games and had a career-high 13 receptions for 82 yards and three touchdowns. Heller played in 12 games for the Seahawks in 2008 and had four catches for 29 yards. He signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2003 and played in 19 games for the Buccaneers over two seasons.
Seattle re-signed the reserve tight end on Monday. Heller played in all 16 regular-season games last year for Seattle, used mostly as a blocker.|||||||
Heller caught four passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in the regular season, and played in both postseason games.
Heller, who was released by the Miami Dolphins last month, has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The tight end takes the roster spot of kicker Todd France.|||||||
