New York Giants safety Tyler Sash plans to meet with NFL commissioner Rogers Goodell on Monday to discuss his four-game suspension for using a banned prescription drug in the offseason. The league has already heard Sash's formal appeal of the suspension and rejected it.|||||||
A doctor gave Sash a prescription for Adderall in March to help him deal with anxiety while at with public speaking appearances. He did not know it was banned by NFL policy. Sash, 24, a native of Oskaloosa, Iowa, had 17 tackles last season, his first in the NFL.

Sash said he took a prescription drug (Adderall) while under a doctor's care for an anxiety condition in March, having no idea it was banned by NFL policy. The league denied his appeal. Coughlin defended his second-year player Wednesday after practice, saying Sash has no intention of doing anything illegal. The 65-year-old coach said he understands the rule but "sometimes you think maybe common sense needs to be involved in this."
