McBride and the Chicago Bears have agreed to a one-year contract.|||||||
The 6-foot-2, 278-pound McBride has appeared in 66 games and made 24 starts over six seasons with Kansas City (2007-08), Detroit (2009-10) and New Orleans (2011-12). He has 9 1/2 sacks, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in his career. The team announced the deal on Wednesday.
The New Orleans Saints have scratched defensive end Turk McBride for Saturday night's playoff game against Detroit.|||||||
McBride was not on the injury report after playing against Carolina last week, but has been inactive much of the season because of left ankle soreness.

Saints spokesman Greg Bensel confirms the addition of the 6-foot-2, 278-pound McBride, a five-year veteran who has started 12 games during the past two seasons for the Detroit Lions. The Saints are expecting starting defensive end Will Smith to be suspended for the first four games of the season, stemming from his use of StarCaps weight-loss pills.
The Detroit Lions have acquired McBride on a waiver claim from the Kansas City Chiefs.|||||||
Thursday's announcement comes one day after the Lions cut defensive tackle Orien Harris. McBride had been playing linebacker after being a starter most of last year at defensive end. The Chiefs cut him Tuesday. McBride was a second-round draft choice in 2007 out of Tennessee.
The Chiefs placed McBride on injured reserve Thursday with a shoulder injury.|||||||
McBride made nine starts in the Chiefs' first 10 games of the season, totaling 41 tackles, sixth-most on the team. The 2007 second-round pick out of Tennessee should return as a starter in 2009.
