The Philadelphia Eagles have released Edwards, a day before the team's first veteran minicamp.|||||||
Edwards spent last season as the No. 3 and backup quarterback after sitting out the 2011 season. He was 15-18 as a starter in Buffalo and 0-1 with Jacksonville.
Edwards beat out Mike Kafka for the third-string quarterback job with the Philadelphia Eagles.|||||||
Edwards, a 28-year-old veteran, had an impressive month after sitting out 2011. He completed 54 of 80 passes (68 percent) for 489 yards, with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
Edwards and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a one-year contract. Edwards hasn't played in the NFL since 2010. The deal was announced Thursday.|||||||
The 28-year-old Edwards is expected to be Michael Vick's backup, a role held by Vince Young last year. Edwards started 32 games for Buffalo and one for Jacksonville in four seasons, going 14-19. He completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 6,019 yards and 26 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.
