LaBoy can play defensive end or outside linebacker. He was a second-round selection (42nd overall) by the Tennessee Titans in the 2004 draft. In 67 games, with 32 starts, he has 136 tackles, 23 1/2 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one interception. LaBoy had his best season in 2005 with 41 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks.
In a move to clear salary cap space, the Cardinals released LaBoy on Tuesday. The defensive end, who played four seasons for the Tennessee Titans, signed a five-year, $22 million contract, with about $7.5 million guaranteed, with Arizona before the 2008 season. He played in 13 games with 38 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in his lone season with the Cardinals.|||||||
The Cardinals also released Edgerrin James and Rod Hood. The three players were to have made $10 million next season, but because of the $7.5 million signing bonus given to LaBoy a year ago, the cap savings will be several million dollars less than what the three would have earned. Arizona is expected to sign new deals with linebacker Karlos Dansby, safety Adrian Wilson and possibly unhappy receiver Anquan Boldin.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound LaBoy played four seasons with Tennessee after being drafted in the second round by the Titans out of Hawaii in 2004. He is expected to compete with Bertrand Berry for the starting job. LaBoy appeared in 54 games with Tennessee, 20 as a starter. He had 19.5 sacks, 175 tackles (100 solo), five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception.
