The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Essex to a one-year contract.||||||| Essex, an unrestricted free agent, spent the first six seasons of his career with the Steelers. He started five games in 2010 for the defending AFC champions.

He can play tackle and guard and has started four times in 33 career regular-season games. He visited the Tennessee Titans last week before re-signing with the Steelers.
