The Indianapolis Colts have signed Harris.||||||| In Chicago, Harris was a three-time Pro Bowler and played a prominent role in the Bears' Super Bowl run during the 2006 season. But he's been hampered by injuries in recent years was released by the team in February. Coach Jim Caldwell says the Colts like Harris because he is familiar with Indy's defensive system.

The Bears have released Harris, a three-time Pro Bowl pick who had struggled in recent years because of injuries.||||||| A Pro Bowl pick from 2005 to 2007, Harris was limited by knee and hamstring problems the past few years and never regained his old disruptive form. He had signed a four-year, $40 million extension in June 2008 and was locked in through 2012, but the Bears decided to cut him loose after several ineffective seasons. He was a healthy scratch against Green Bay in September and finished the season with 13 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks in 15 games.

Harris says he wants to stay with the Chicago Bears even though they benched him for the game against the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.||||||| The three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle gave an emphatic no when asked if he wants to be traded. He says he loves the city and the team and that he plays hard "every time I'm out there."

The Bears say they will hold Harris out of Monday night's game against the Green Bay Packers on a coach's decision.||||||| The reasons behind that decision were not clear. A three-time Pro Bowl pick, Harris was benched for a game last season and suspended for one in 2008 because of detrimental conduct. He has also been limited by knee and hamstring injuries over the past four years, although he was not listed on the Bears' injury report leading up to Monday's game. He has insisted he is healthy but is off to a slow start with one tackle and a fumble recovery.

The NFL said Harris had been fined $7,500 for punching Cardinals offensive lineman Deuce Lutui on the fourth play from scrimmage in last Sunday's 41-21 loss.||||||| Harris was ejected and later apologized. He did not draw a suspension and that helps the beleaguered Bears defense.
