A person familiar with the contract tells The Associated Press that Brady has received a three-year extension from the New England Patriots worth about $27 million.|||||||
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the extension has not been announced. The 35-year-old two-time league MVP was signed through 2014, and has said he wants to play five more years. By redoing his contract Monday, Brady also has cleared nearly $15 million from New England's salary cap. Brady currently has a four-year, $72 million deal with $48 million guaranteed.
The NFL has fined New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady $10,000 for an "aggressive slide" in Sunday's AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. The fine was announced on NFL.com.|||||||
On a first-and-goal near the end of the second quarter, Brady was forced out of the pocket to his left. He ran for 3 yards but slid before he could be tackled. In the process, he raised his right leg and kicked defender Ed Reed in the thigh. Brady reportedly apologized to Reed in a text message. The Ravens won 28-13 to advance to the Super Bowl.
