The Cardinals have signed Clayton.||||||| Clayton appeared in three games with the Cleveland Browns last season. In 2010, he played in one game for New England and two with the Browns.

The Patriots claimed Clayton on waivers from the Cleveland Browns.||||||| Clayton was with the Patriots in training camp after signing on June 11. He was released on Sept. 4 then signed to Cleveland's practice squad 10 days later. The Patriots then signed him to their 53-player roster on Sept. 30 but released him on Oct. 23. The Browns then re-signed him on Oct. 26.

The 49ers signed Clayton from the practice squad to the active roster.||||||| Clayton has spent both of his NFL seasons on the 49ers' practice squad after the club drafted him in the sixth round out of Kansas State. He has performed well in the preseason twice, but couldn't win a spot on San Francisco's roster.

He could compete for a roster spot as Frank Gore's backup next season if Maurice Hicks leaves as an unrestricted free agent.
