The Buffalo Bills are continuing their purge of veteran defensive players by releasing McGee.||||||| Having spent 10 seasons in Buffalo, McGee was among the Bills' longest-serving active players. Injuries, however, began catching up to McGee who finished last season on injured reserve for the third time in four years. He was limited to just seven games before having surgery on a left knee that hadn't fully healed from the previous year. The move was announced Thursday, two days after the Bills cut linebacker Nick Barnett and safety George Wilson.

The Bills placed McGee on season-ending injured reserve.||||||| For McGee, it's the latest setback for the 10-year veteran who landed on IR for the third time in four years. McGee's been hampered by a left knee injury that had not fully healed since he had surgery this past offseason. McGee's agent, Ron Raccuia, said his client will likely require a second operation, but expects him to be fully healthy to play next year.

McGee has agreed to restructure the final two years of his contract, providing the team salary relief if he continues to miss playing time.||||||| In exchange, McGee agreed to an incentive-laden deal based on him staying healthy and playing. Without going into detail, McGee's agent, Ron Raccuia, disclosed the nature of the restructured contract agreed to on Wednesday. The nine-year veteran was scheduled to make a base salary of $3.6 million this season, and $4.6 million next year.

McGee has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.||||||| McGee had surgery on his left knee Monday after getting hurt in Sunday's blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins. McGee played in only six games after missing time because of a hamstring he injured in the season-opener.
