Knighton donned a helmet at practice Thursday for the first time in organized team activities and went through some individual drills. Although his progress did nothing to alter his planned return - the team wants to limit his work until training camp in July - it provided Knighton an emotional boost. Knighton injured his left eye while trying to break up a bar fight in April.
Speaking publicly for the first time since a bar fight last month, Knighton opened with an apology.|||||||
Knighton apologized to the city of Jacksonville and the organization for "embarrassing them with the actions that happened that night." Then he answered any and every question about that night, his rehabilitation and his chances of making a full recovery.
