The Panthers have signed Ginn from the San Francisco 49ers. Carolina announced Friday that Ginn signed a one-year deal.||||||| Carolina coach Ron Rivera says Ginn is "an explosive player who could help us both on offense and in the return game." The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Ginn played six seasons in the NFL as a receiver and return specialist, the last three with the 49ers. In 2012, Ginn played in 13 games and averaged 10.2 yards per return and 23 yards per kickoff return. He caught just two passes for 1 yard.

Ginn is active for Sunday's game against the Jets.||||||| Ginn has been bothered by a right ankle injury and had said earlier in the week that he hoped to play Sunday.

Ted Ginn Jr. is out of the NFC championship game for San Francisco with an injured right knee.||||||| Ginn hurt his knee last week against New Orleans and did not practice all week leading up to Sunday's game against the New York Giants. He normally starts at receiver and returns kicks and punts. Kyle Williams is listed as the starter in his place.

The San Francisco 49ers were are without two wide receivers for the regular season finale, with wide receiver and return man Ted Ginn Jr. sidelined by an ankle injury and Kyle Williams out with a concussion.||||||| Neither practiced all week. Brett Swain, who entered Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams with one reception, starts for Ginn.

Ginn had four catches for 38 yards in an improbable 27-24 OT loss to Dallas on Sunday.||||||| Believe it or not, he caught the most balls for a 49ers passing attack that is inept at best.
