Heyer started 33 games for the Redskins from 2007-10, then signed with Oakland as a free agent. He had two starts in 12 games for the Raiders last season.

Heyer started all 16 games for the Redskins last season, 13 at right tackle and three at left tackle. He joined the team as an undrafted rookie out of Maryland in 2007.
Heyer, who has been sidelined with a sprained shoulder, practiced Thursday but was less certain about his prospects to play on Sunday.|||||||
"I'm trying to get myself to go," said Heyer, who has started three of four games for the Redskins this season.
Jon Jansen appears set to start Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys after Heyer was limited in practice Friday with a sprained shoulder.|||||||
Heyer sprained his left shoulder in the second quarter of last week's 24-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. He returned to play the second half but has been sore all week and is listed as questionable on the injury report. Heyer, a second-year player, won the starting job over longtime veteran Jansen in one of the surprises of preseason. Jansen said he felt he had something to prove during the dozen or so snaps he played when subbing for Heyer last week.
Heyer was to make his second NFL start Thursday night for the Redskins, replacing injured right tackle Todd Wade against the Chicago Bears.|||||||
The undrafted rookie out of Maryland has played in eight games this season.
