A person familiar with the deal says the Detroit Lions and linebacker Stephen Tulloch have agreed to a five-year contract. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the transaction hadn't been announced.|||||||
Re-signing Tulloch was one of the Lions' top priorities this offseason. They extended Calvin Johnson's contract, retained Cliff Avril with a franchise tag and re-signed Jeff Backus and Shaun Hill. The only player Detroit wanted back that won't return is cornerback Eric Wright. Tulloch made a team-high 111 tackles with the Lions after signing a one-year deal last summer. He led Tennessee in tackles the previous two years after being drafted by the Titans in 2006.
Tulloch has been fined $15,000 apiece by the NFL for a horse collar tackle during last week's win over the Minnesota Vikings.|||||||
