Free agent defensive end Stephen Bowen has agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins. Bowen's deal was announced Thursday by his agent on Twitter. The Redskins can't announce the deal until Friday under NFL rules.|||||||
ESPN reported that Bowen agreed a five-year, $27.5 million deal that includes $12.5 million in guaranteed money. Bowen played five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He started nine games last year and had 1 1/2 sacks. Bowen made the Cowboys' roster in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of Hofstra.

Bowen had career highs in 2009 in tackles (32), sacks and pass breakups (three each), and quarterback pressures (35). He also got his first NFL starts in two games. In 47 career games, he has 83 tackles, four sacks, three tackles for losses, 52 pressures, three pass breakups and one forced fumble. Dallas first signed Bowen as a rookie free agent out of Hofstra in May 2006.
Dallas has re-signed Bowen for the upcoming season, leaving the Cowboys with two restricted free agents without contracts.|||||||
Bowen signed a one-year, $1.54 million deal Monday similar to what offensive lineman Cory Procter received last week. Bowen posted a career-high 28 tackles last season, with two tackles for loss and nine quarterback pressures. He joined the club as an undrafted free agent in 2006, making the practice squad before moving up to the active roster that November. He has played in 34 games over three seasons.
