The New England Patriots have released Larsen.|||||||
Larsen signed last March as an unrestricted agent from Denver but missed the season with a knee injury. The Broncos drafted him in the sixth round in 2008 from Arizona and used him at linebacker and fullback for the first two seasons and at fullback in his last two with them. He played 50 games with Denver, rushing 17 times for 62 yards and catching 14 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown.
Larsen was placed on IR on Monday.|||||||
The New England Patriots have re-signed wide receiver Deion Branch and signed free agent fullbacks Tony Fiammetta and Spencer Larsen.|||||||
The signings of Fiammetta and Larsen, both about 240 pounds, could signal a shift in the running game to include a blocking back. Fiammetta spent last season with Dallas after two seasons with Carolina. Larsen played fullback and linebacker his first two seasons with Denver and fullback the past two years with the Broncos.
Larsen is done for the season with a sprained knee.|||||||
Larsen was injured in the Broncos' season finale Jan. 1, and Denver lost its top receiver, Eric Decker, to a similar injury in its wild-card playoff win over Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The Denver Broncos placed Larsen on injured reserve Wednesday with an ankle injury.|||||||
Larsen injured the ankle Sunday in Denver's 39-23 loss at Oakland. Larsen, who has been hampered by a variety of injuries most of the year, finished the season with 18 yards on three carries and five catches for 51 yards. Interim coach Eric Studesville says the Broncos signed guard Stanley Daniels to the active roster to fill the spot left by Larsen.
