Rice has hip surgery, out half the season
Vikings WR Sidney Rice underwent hip surgery on Monday and is expected to miss the first half of the 2010 season.

Rice caught six passes for 99 yards and the game-winning TD on Sunday against Chicago.|||||||
Rice hauled in the winning pass from Wilson and took a shoulder-to-helmet hit from Major Wright that jarred the ball loose and appeared to knock the receiver unconscious as he lunged into the end zone. Rice stayed down for several minutes but eventually walked off the field. He insisted afterward he was alert the whole time.

Rice was listed as questionable after being pulled from the end of practice Friday with a sore calf.

Coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Rice is ahead of schedule in his recovery from offseason surgery on both shoulders and will get a little bit of playing time against the Chiefs. Rice has not played in a game since Week 12 of last season when he suffered a concussion and was placed on injured reserve.
