Phillips had a career-high four sacks and also returned an interception of Derek Anderson 31 yards for a TD late in the second quarter in a 41-10 win over Arizona on Sunday.||||||| Fantasy owners who play in leagues in which sacks and interception returns for touchdowns are weighed heavily probably did well with Phillips in their lineup. This was an impressive effort.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Phillips is being sued by a 54-year-old woman who says he struck and injured her at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas in February 2008.||||||| The newspaper also reported that Phillips is scheduled to stand trial Oct. 4 in San Diego, having been accused by an Ivy Hotel security guard of punching him in the face in April 2009.

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said he accepted an apology from Phillips for taunting him before the Chargers' 32-3 win at Invesco Field on Nov. 22. For several days after his confrontation with Phillips, McDaniels declined to tell his side of the story, and that led to widespread criticism from players and coaches alike after Phillips said McDaniels taunted him by saying, "We own you!" during warmups.||||||| In the face of that mounting criticism, McDaniels told ESPN over the weekend that Phillips, renowned for his trash talk, confronted him and taunted him as he came out of the tunnel before the game. McDaniels said his response was meant to imply that McDaniels' former team, the New England Patriots, had always made Phillips eat his words.

The San Diego city attorney's office says Phillips won't be charged in a case in which he was accused of striking a security guard in the face at a downtown hotel in late April.||||||| Phillips was cited by police for misdemeanor battery after a security guard at the Ivy Hotel said the player hit him. City attorney's spokeswoman Gina Coburn said that after an investigation, the city attorney's office declined to prosecute Phillips.

Phillips has been cited for misdemeanor battery for allegedly striking a security guard in the face at a downtown hotel early Sunday morning.||||||| It is Phillips' second run-in with the law in three seasons. "It's disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shaun Phillips. We'll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course," general manager A.J. Smith said in a statement. Neither Phillips nor his agent responded to phone calls, texts and e-mails. Phillips was arrested in April 2006 for scuffling with a police officer in downtown but wasn't charged.
