Cody is out of the hospital after undergoing back surgery.||||||| Dr. Robert Watkins says he performed successful microscopic surgery for a lumbar disc herniation on Cody on Jan. 29. Cody was released from the hospital the day after the surgery. The 6-foot-4, 307-pound Cody missed three games last season in November with a back injury. Cody, who played at Southern Cal, was drafted in the second round in 2005 by Detroit. He signed with the Texans as a free agent in 2009.

Cody was inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals after missing practice during the week with an illness.||||||| Cody missed practice on Thursday after becoming sick. He had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Frank Okam started in his place.

The Houston Texans have signed Cody.||||||| Cody has spent his entire four-year career with the Detroit Lions, who drafted him in the second round in 2005. A career backup, he appeared in each game for the Lions last season with four starts and finished with a career-high 36 tackles. He'll join a group of defensive linemen that includes first-round draft picks Mario Williams - the top overall pick in 2006 - Amobi Okoye and Travis Johnson, as well as recently added defensive end Antonio Smith.
