Jones has agreed to a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.||||||| Jones played for Philadelphia last season after spending the first five years of his career with the Cleveland Browns. He started nine games with the Eagles, finishing with 72 tackles, one sack and two interceptions. Jones was a second-round draft pick of the Browns in 2004. He has been a full-time starter since 2006, and his 16 interceptions over the past four seasons are tied for fourth among safeties.

Jones signed a one-year, free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, helping fill the void created by Brian Dawkins' departure.||||||| A second-round pick by Cleveland in 2004, Jones played five seasons with the Browns. He was mostly used as a strong safety, but his playmaking skills make him a potential replacement for Dawkins at free safety. Jones may have to beat out second-year pro Quintin Demps for the spot.

Jones will have arthroscopic knee surgery and likely be sidelined for at least one month. Jones, who injured his knee in the exhibition opener, will have surgery Thursday, coach Romeo Crennel said Wednesday.||||||| Jones started all 16 games in each of the past two seasons. He had five interceptions last season for a defense that ranked 30th overall.
