The Arizona Cardinals have signed Considine.|||||||
Considine, in his seventh NFL season, played in the first four games for Carolina this year before being released on Oct. 4. Known for his special teams play, Considine was a 4th-round draft pick of Philadelphia in 2005 and played for the Eagles for four seasons. He signed as a free agent with Jacksonville in 2009. The signing bolsters the safety corps depleted by the loss of starter Kerry Rhodes with a broken foot. Rhodes is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
Considine will miss the rest of the season after hurting his left shoulder in the Eagles' loss to Dallas on Sunday night.|||||||
Quintin Mikell will replace Considine in the starting lineup against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Mikell started five games at free safety when Brian Dawkins was sidelined. Considine had 47 tackles and one interception. A fourth-round pick in 2005, he replaced former Pro Bowl selection Michael Lewis after Lewis struggled early last year. Considine also injured the same shoulder his rookie season and finished that year on injured reserve.
Considine returned to practice on Friday but is questionable for Sunday's game against Minnesota.|||||||
