The contract includes a $2 million signing bonus, according to a person who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press late Friday because an official announcement had not been made. Succop was tagged with the "Mr. Irrelevant" nickname when he was the final pick of the 2009 draft. After a rough start to the season, Succop has made 21 in a row. Pete Stoyanovich has the franchise mark of 22 straight, ahead of such greats as Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud, Nick Lowery and Morten Anderson, the NFL's all-time leading scorer. Succop was 4 for 4 last Sunday against Green Bay, helping the Chiefs knock off the previously unbeaten Packers 19-14. He also kicked the winner in overtime earlier this season against San Diego.

He hit 66 percent his senior season and converted all 30 of his PATs. The 6-foot-2 Succop worked out with the Chiefs during offseason practices and is expected to compete with second-year kicker Connor Barth for the starting job.
