Peyton Manning's blindside protector will get a big pay raise next season. The Denver Broncos placed their franchise tag on Clady on Friday, ensuring the three-time Pro Bowler a salary of $9.828 million in 2013.||||||| That's almost triple the $3.5 million Clady made last season when he allowed just one sack in more than 1,100 snaps during Manning's bounce-back season in Denver. The Broncos are hoping to work out a long-term deal with Clady before training camp, though. Last summer, he rejected a five-year, $50 million offer that included $28 million in guarantees.

Clady has withdrawn from the Pro Bowl because of an injury, presumably the balky shoulder that bothered him during the Denver Broncos' first-round bye but which didn't prevent him from playing in their loss to Baltimore.||||||| Clady will be replaced by Cincinnati Bengals tackle Andrew Whitworth.

Clady won't be breaking the bank anytime soon. The Denver Broncos and the two-time Pro Bowl left tackle who will protect Peyton Manning's blind side ended talks Monday on a contract extension until after the 2012 season.||||||| John Elway told The Denver Post that negotiations hit an impasse. So, Clady will make $3.5 million this season. The Broncos had reportedly offered the fifth-year pro $50 million over five years with $28 million guaranteed. In free agency next year, Clady and his agent, Pat Dye, can seek a deal more in line with Cleveland's Joe Thomas, whose deal averages $11.5 million a season, although the Broncos could put the franchise tag on him.
