Saffold will be out at least a month with a right knee injury.|||||||
Coach Jeff Fisher said Saffold has a third-degree MCL sprain and other damage to the knee, but said it was not season-ending. Saffold was hurt advancing a fumble in the first quarter Sunday in the Rams' 31-28 victory over the Redskins. He was a surprise starter after being hospitalized with a neck strain in Detroit after the opener and listed as questionable prior to the game.
Saffold will start in Sunday's home opener against Washington.|||||||
Saffold was a full participant Thursday and Friday, days after being hospitalized for several hours with what the team termed a significant neck strain. He was carted off the field in Detroit when he was injured in the opener.

Saffold crumpled awkwardly after disengaging from Lions safety John Wendling on a long St. Louis pass. The Rams scored a touchdown on the play to take a 20-13 lead with 9:45 remaining. Saffold remained down for several minutes, and some Rams players held hands and formed a prayer circle on their sideline. Saffold was eventually lifted onto the cart but did not appear to be moving much.

Saffold aggravated an injury sustained earlier in the season on pass protecting late in Sunday's 34-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Saffold said Monday the shoulder was very sore, but he anticipated that rehab would help keep him on the field. He was the first pick of the second round in this year's draft and has started every game at left tackle. Coach Steve Spagnuolo said Saffold was day to day.
