Williams says he's retiring from football.||||||| The 34-year-old Williams still has a year left on his contract with Baltimore, but told the team Tuesday that he does not intend to play next year. After winning the Heisman Trophy with Texas, Williams broke into the NFL in 1999 with New Orleans. He had five 1,000-yard rushing seasons over 11 years. This season, his first in Baltimore, he ran for 444 yards and scored two TDs as a backup to Ray Rice. Williams led the NFL in 2002 with 1,853 yards rushing for Miami.

Williams has passed his physical and is practicing with the Baltimore Ravens for the first time.||||||| Wearing No. 38 Tuesday instead of his customary 34, Williams began his tenure with the Ravens working on a side field with a coach. Williams agreed to terms on a two-year deal Monday, pending him passing his physical. He is expected to serve as the backup to running back Ray Rice.

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms with veteran running back Ricky Williams. The Ravens announced the deal on Monday, pending Williams passing a physical Tuesday.||||||| Williams played for the Miami Dolphins last season. The 34-year-old split time with Ronnie Brown in Miami and averaged 4.2 yards per carry. He rushed for 673 yards and scored two touchdowns. With the Ravens, Williams will play behind starter Ray Rice. Williams has rushed for 9,569 career yards and 68 touchdowns, recording 325 receptions for 2,523 yards and eight touchdowns.

Williams had 11 carries for 48 yards in the Dolphins' 23-22 loss to the Steelers on Sunday.||||||| Williams didn't score for a sixth consecutive game. He's yet to top 70 yards this season and has to be considered a fantasy bust heading into a Week 8 game against Cincinnati.
