McGee injured his back during warmups before Sunday's season opener, a possible explanation for his horrendous NFL debut.||||||| Agent David Canter said McGee suffered a herniated disk before Cleveland hosted Cincinnati, and that the injury was so bad that McGee was kicking without feeling in his legs. McGee averaged just 36 yards on eight punts, shanking his first one 20 yards and later following it with punts of 28 and 30 yards. The Browns are going to put him on IR.

The Bears have waived McGee.||||||| McGee, who signed a two-year deal in February, spent parts of last season on Chicago's practice squad. He was with the Bears during the offseason and 2009 preseason, averaging 36.3 yards on four punts while landing two inside the 20.

The Chicago Bears signed McGee to a two-year contract Friday.||||||| McGee spent parts of last season on Chicago's practice squad, and he was with the Bears during the offseason and 2009 preseason, averaging 36.3 yards on four punts while landing two inside the 20. A member of Texas' 2005 national championship team, McGee entered the league as an undrafted free agent with Philadelphia in 2008. He could be in line to replace veteran Brad Maynard, who is due to become an unrestricted free agent.

The Bears released McGee on Wednesday.||||||| McGee spent a month with the Bears in the preseason last year before being waived. He was brought back as insurance late in the season with Brad Maynard nursing a groin injury but did not play.
