The Arizona Cardinals addressed one of their significant needs on Wednesday by reaching agreement on a one-year contract with Mendenhall.||||||| Mendenhall played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where his offensive coordinator for much of that time was new Arizona head coach Bruce Arians. Mendenhall had a difficult 2012 season after tearing an ACL in 2011. Last year, he rushed for just 182 yards in 52 carries. Mendenhall rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made Rashard Mendenhall inactive for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers, the second straight week the running back has been scratched.||||||| Mendenhall hasn't played since fumbling in a loss to Cleveland on Nov. 25. Jonathan Dwyer will make his second straight start at running back, with Isaac Redman the first one off the bench.
