The Oakland Raiders have signed safety Reggie Smith and Jennings to free agent contracts. General manager Reggie McKenzie announced the deals Thursday.||||||| Jennings replaces Mike Goodson as the backup to Darren McFadden. He has rushed for 944 yards and seven touchdowns and caught 61 passes in 38 games with Jacksonville. After missing the 2011 season with a knee injury, Jennings returned to play 10 games last season and start six. He averaged just 2.8 yards per carry.

Jennings was ruled out for Sunday's game against New England.||||||| Jennings passed his concussion test but has a shoulder injury and missed practice all week. Montell Owens will make his third consecutive start.

Jennings ran for 59 yards on 17 carries in his first start for the injured Maurice Jones-Drew on Sunday against the Packers.||||||| Jennings will likely get at least a couple more starts to impress as the Jaguars believe Jones-Drew's sprained foot will see him miss a few games.
