Coples has been fined $15,000 by the NFL on Friday for grabbing the facemask of Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne.||||||| Coples was called for a penalty when Henne scrambled for 1 yard on third-and-3 last Sunday. The play extended a drive in which the Jaguars later scored in the Jets' 17-10 victory.

Coples and Aaron Maybin of the New York Jets have been fined by the NFL for separate hits on Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck last weekend.||||||| Coples, the Jets' first-round pick, was fined $10,000 on Friday for grabbing the facemask of Luck, the No. 1 overall selection, in New York's 35-9 win Sunday. Maybin was fined $7,875 for "unnecessarily" striking Luck with his elbow after blocking him during an interception return by Antonio Cromartie. The penalty wiped out Cromartie's touchdown.

The New York Jets have signed first-round draft pick Quinton Coples to a four-year contract.||||||| The big defensive end from North Carolina is expected to be a starter as a rookie on Rex Ryan's defensive line after a standout career with the Tar Heels. The deal, signed Thursday, includes a standard team option for a fifth year. Financial terms were not immediately available. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound Coples was the 16th overall pick last month after finishing tied for third in Tar Heels history with 24 sacks, including 17 1/2 his last two years.
