Manning will be the Broncos quarterback through at least 2014. The four-time Most Valuable Player's contract called for a guaranteed salary of $20 million in 2013 and 2014 if he was on the Denver roster Tuesday, which marks the start of the new league year. The final two years of his contract - 2015 and 2016 - are worth $19 million each, but are not guaranteed.|||||||
Coming off multiple neck operations, Manning threw for 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns last season and was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. He turns 37 on March 24.

The four-time league MVP guided the Broncos to the AFC's best record, 13-3, in his first season in Denver. Before sitting out 2011, Manning had never missed a start in his first 13 seasons with Indianapolis. Manning received 31 1-2 votes Saturday from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league. He easily beat Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who got 17 1-2 votes after his comeback from major knee surgery.
Manning tied yet another NFL record Thursday, this one held by Tom Brady, when he won his sixth career Offensive Player of the Month award. Manning joined Kurt Warner (2001) as the only players with 10 TDs, 1,300 yards, a 70 percent completion percentage and five wins in December as the Broncos (13-3) captured the top seed in the AFC playoffs.|||||||
He did it while wearing a glove on his throwing hand for the first time in his career, testing it in home games against the Browns and Chiefs in preparation for cold weather in January. Manning said he's been "OK the past two weeks," but he's been more than that - his completion percentage was 5.8 points higher and his QB rating was 19.2 points better with the glove.
Manning, in search of his fifth MVP award and, yes, a second Super Bowl title, finished 23 for 29 for 304 yards, three scores and with a 144.8 passer rating on Sunday against the Chiefs.|||||||
