The Jacksonville Jaguars have taken a step toward rebuilding their beleaguered defense by agreeing to a six-year contract with Posluszny worth $45 million, with $15 million guaranteed.|||||||
The former Buffalo Bills linebacker should provide the Jaguars an upgrade in the middle of a defense that ranked near the bottom of the league in just about every category. Posluszny is expected to replace veteran Kirk Morrison, who failed to impress coaches and front office personnel during his one season in Jacksonville. Posluszny had 398 tackles in four years with the Bills despite missing several games with injuries.
The Buffalo Bills have tendered a contract to Posluszny.|||||||

Providing the update after practice Monday, coach Chan Gailey didn't disclose any details of the injury, except to say tests revealed it wasn't as severe as first feared. There's a possibility Posluszny might not be back until Oct. 24, when Buffalo returns from its bye week to play at Baltimore.

Posluszny was hurt when he helped tackle Ronnie Brown along the sideline. The starter sat on the field for several minutes before eventually getting up on his own. Team trainers worked on Posluszny's right knee, before sending him to the locker room. Posluszny returned a few minutes later, but did not take the field. He then left for the locker room again and did not return.
Posluszny became the sixth Bills player - and third defensive starter - placed on injured reserve this season after the rookie second-round draft pick broke his left forearm in the second quarter of a 38-7 loss at New England on Sunday.|||||||
Posluszny, who had surgery Monday, was hurt making a tackle. A two-time Bednarik Award winner as the best defensive player in the nation while at Penn State, Posluszny had a team-leading 23 tackles in Buffalo's first two games. The Bills' linebacking corps is already depleted with starter Keith Ellison (high ankle sprain) expected to miss the next two games and Coy Wire (sprained knee) out indefinitely.
