The Cowboys have signed cornerback Orlando Scandrick to a five-year contract extension. The deal is worth $27 million - an additional $2 million this season, and an average of $5 million per season for the added years. He's guaranteed $10 million, according to a person familiar with negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the terms were not released.|||||||
A fifth-round pick in 2008, Scandrick has been a solid third cornerback behind Terence Newman and Michael Jenkins, excelling mostly covering receivers out of the slot. With Newman and Jenkins injured much of training camp, Scandrick has worked with the first team and coaches have been pleased with what they've seen. New defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has raved about him.
Scandrick signed a four-year contract with Dallas on Wednesday, becoming the first of the Cowboys' draft picks to sign a contract.|||||||
Scandrick, a fifth-round pick from Boise State, got a four-year deal worth about $1.85 million with a signing bonus of about $185,000.
